Changes to my study programme

In my honest opinion, I believe that the singing program curriculum at the University of Chile is quite extensive. However, the recent modifications seem to aim towards producing more graduates who become teachers in the field or specialize in a particular area of study. There are not many opportunities for individual growth or specific development for those who aspire to be soloists in an orchestra or philharmonic. It is of utmost importance to provide students with the confidence to pursue their inspirations, but unfortunately, the university has been diminishing dreams and creativity.

There are many courses that I would definitely remove from the curriculum. The “inter-disciplinary” approach in the arts, such as music, is not entirely necessary, nor are some of the specializations in aesthetics. The university's focus is quite broad, and it is only intended to introduce students to other areas of the same university.

Regarding the infrastructure of the Faculty of Art, I honestly do not have much to say. We are a forgotten and neglected faculty, and we only have the leftovers from other faculties. It is a shame that our faculty still looks like a hospital and not like a building oriented towards the arts. The glory days have long passed, and the new generations know it perfectly.

In conclusion, I deeply apologize for having such a pessimistic view on this matter. However, sometimes it is good to speak the truth and put on the table what many of us feel but do not say. At least I feel better writing about it on this blog.
